Prayer

I led the Toastmasters in prayer this evening. We had three causes for celebration during our educational meeting tonight: Christmas, my chapter’s first anniversary, and our chapter president’s birthday. It turned out to be an evening of words, wine, and laughter.

However, it was not all that fun to begin with. I was anxious about preparing the invocation. Although I’m in a profession which requires me to constantly write and speak publicly, I often suffer from writer’s block. Preparing a 5-liner speech is already a daunting task for me. I usually pull it off at the last minute.

Today’s meeting was no different: I managed to compose a simple invocation right before the meeting was scheduled to start. I just got it over and done with.

Not surprisingly, because I pulled off a simple task, one of the members urged me to deliver my first prepared speech by next meeting… I might just.
